Lot of 4 different. Some scarce pieces but with condition issues. 1) The Lime Creek Mining Company. "Holy Cross Mining District" (printed under title). Dateline Leadville, Jan. 2nd, 1882. Low cert. number 8, issued for 800 shares to Charles Metcalf. Signed by vice-president J.W. Jacque and secretary J.R. Hammond. Not cancelled. Green border, gold seal, and vignette of miners working underground. No printer listed. 7.25 x 9.75" Folds with separation, creases and some soiling. Not listed in the 1883 CO Mining Directory. This is a rare Colorado mining district. The Holy Cross Mining District was located in Eagle County. The settlements of Holy Cross City and Gold Park developed about the same time (1880), but died by 1883 (Eberhart, 1969). The main producer was the Gold Park Company. Signed by the president and secretary. Not cancelled. Blue border and print, mine windlass vignette. Heavy soiling/water damage, some separation, folds. 4.5 x 8.5" Three Minnehana mines are listed in C&L (1883): Pitkin, Summit, and San Juan Counties. 3) Colorado Co-Operative Prospecting & Mining Company. Company properties listed on the right: Frisco, Newsboy, & Lookout Lodes (Fremont Co.); Washington, Emma, & Star Lodes (Lake County); Boston Chicago Chlorides & Sun Lodes (Custer County); and Uncompogery, Union, and Galenite Lodes (San Juan County). No. 3123, issued for 10 shares in 1879 in Silver Cliff. No cancelled. Folds with many tears. 6.25 x 7" 4) The Columbia-Alberia Mining Company. Fremont County.
