Original Scintrex Scintilometer in leather case with instruction book, c late 1960's. Made by precision Radiation Instruments Inc., Model 111, which was out of business by 1970, according to a web source. This attractive hand-held scintilometer was used for uranium prospecting during the 1960's. At this time, prospecting for uranium had become a bit more difficult, as the Fed had taken a form of control over who they would and who they wouldnt buy uranium from. It put many companies out of business. Meanwhile, the age-old method of single prospectors continued, and this machine is one of the devices used for prospecting - in this case by professional geologists, because this model was mush more expensive than their cheaper prospector models. Excellent condition. case 9 x 14 x 5". This instrument was used by Uranium geologist Chas. D. Snow, who wrote a book on uranium prospecting in Wyoming. City: State: Date:
