Two different passes. 1) Pass No. 216, issued for 1898 to F.L. Alexander (Toledo & Ohio Central). Signed by Jno. H. Bryant as president. Printed on green cardstock with ornate logo. Minimal wear. 2) Pass No. 85, issued for 1900 to H.A. Jackson. Signed by the general manager. Endorsed by Jackson. Printed on blue cardstock. This line was the 1896 reorganization of the Seattle, Lake Shore & Eastern Railway. It operated until it was taken over in 1901 by Northern Pacific Railway Co. A 1900 advertisement calls it the "Shortest, Most Direct, and Only All Rail Line to Vancouver, New Westminster, and All Points in British Columbia." Access to Mount Baker Mining District via Sumas or Deming, and Darrington Mining District via Arlington. In 1900, they leased an offshoot short line from Everett to Snohomish.
