Very important railroad in Seattle's history. Pass No. 110, issued for 1891 to C.M. Hoar, auditor for M.R. & H.C. Railroad. Signed by A.S. Dunham, president and general manager. Printed on cardstock with ornate logo and gray background by Childs & Co., Chicago. Toning. This railroad was incorporated in 1885 to connect Seattle to the Canadian border. It merged with Northern Pacific in 1892. Seattle businessman were desperate for a large railroad operation to meet the needs of the growing city. Seattle had been teased by Northern Pacific in the 1870s and 1880s, but without any promises realized. Seattle citizens eventually sought Eastern funding to complete this line.
