US Senate report by Senator William Stewart to accompany bill No. 899, which would grant aid to the Northern Pacific and other railroads. 31pp. Plus Views of the Minority of the Committee on the Pacific Railroad. 3pp. Included with both is a fantastic folding map titled "The Great Railroad Routes to the Pacific and their Connections." Shows completed and proposed lines. 16 x 29" Foxing, toning from being folded. See the CPRR through Stewart's home state of Nevada (only Virginia City, Carson, Austin, Aurora, and Belmont are labelled). Would look great framed. Stewart put his mark on Nevada history with his role as a lawyer on the Comstock Lode arguing the single vs. multi-lode case. He served as a US Senator for Nevada for 28 years. It is not surprising he would be arguing for Pacific railroads as he was receiving money from the Central Pacific. State: Nevada City: Date: 1869
