1) Oatman-Combination Mine. #838 in 1916. Mohave County, Arizona. After a few other names, the city and mining district of Oatman was named in the posthumous honor of Olive Oatman, a young Illinois girl who was taken captive by (presumably) Yavapai Indians and forced to work as a slave. She was later traded to Mohave Indians who adopted her as a daughter and had her face tattooed in the custom of the tribe. She was released in 1855 near the current site of the town. [Please see Oatman CDV photograph and book.] 2) Another wonderful piece is the Sierra Nevada Consolidated Mining Company. #559 in 1888. Signed by Sherman to Sherman. Famous Coeur d'Alene mine. 3) Silva Consolidated. Number 3547 in 1931. Signed by Frank Silva. Pinal County, Arizona. 4) Ben Hur Mining. Number 609 in 1910. From Frank Bell to Frank Bell. Mineral County, Montana. 5) Indianapolis Southern Railroad Company. Number 49. Unused. 6) Chanute Manufacturing Company. #4 in 1922. Very early number. Neosho, Kansas. 7) Western Biscuit. #38.
