This is a shako plate from Fort Fetterman in Wyoming, vintage Indian Wars, C.1867-1882. The fort housed many troops as well as support personnel. A shako plate would be worn on a hat or belt trim to designate a specific group of personnel. 2 in. X 2.75 in. Excellent condition, made of brass.
