Unusual 1881 arrest warrant for C.B. Wiilingham on the charge of murder. Where the warrant takes a weird turn, is that it orders the local sheriff to arrest and detain the suspected murderer. The sheriff's name is the same C.B. Williingham It seems that Sheriff Willingham shot and killed a local cowboy in Tascosa, Oldham County Texas, making the poor drover the first person killed in the wild cowtown. Now, Willingham didn't issue the warrant, that was left up to court clerk, a Mr. Vivian, after the grand jury of the county determined that Willingham was the perpetrator. Because the sheriff could be trusted to arrest himself. The job was handed over to Deputy Tom Emory, who would later gain fame as one of Sheriff Pat Garret's posse members, who help chase down Billy the Kid. The 7"x 8" document is in very nice condition.
