This is a leather breast collar for a horse being ridden by a member of the Sheriff's Posse, probably out on the trail to track down the bad guys and bring them to justice. This is a finely crafted piece of leather goods manufactured by Victor Ario of Great Falls, Montana. Victor was born in Austria where he learned leather crafting. He moved to Great Falls, Montana, when he was 19 years old, and began working for J.B. Steffen, one of the first saddle makers in the area. Victor and Tom Moreland partnered up to buy the business in 1897, and by 1903 he had bought out Moreland and renamed the company Victor Ario Saddlery Company. State: City: Date:
