# 85 for 10 shares to G. W. Swain. Signed by G. A. Brier and president G. W. Swain. Dateline Como, August 1, 1863. Incorporated June 1863. Not cancelled. Two Union Civil War soldier vignettes making this a very strong pro-Union certificate. Towne & Bacon printer. Red discoloration on right and small fold rip bottom right. Very nice. Brier was a Nevada newspaper man (Gold Hill, Hamilton, Shermantown) and prospector (Como, Meadow Lake, Treasure Hill). In the 1863 Nevada Directory, Swain is listed as living in Como and was a millwright. Biography on Brier included.
