A group of 15 stock certificates, dating from 1928 to 1929, from two Sierra County mining companies: Sierra Consolidated Mining Company (13) and Monte Cristo Mining Company (2). They are each signed by their respective company's secretary and president. The Sierra Consolidated certificates have vignettes of mining scenes. Sierra Consolidated's president, Edgar S. Hurley, was a California state senator from Oakland who was at one point implicated in a dynamite theft plot. Many Sierra Consolidated certs have been cancelled using stamped or handwritten cancellations. Many have significant staining. See photos.
