Fabulous! Organized in New York. "Mines in Colorado." Low number 11, issued for 1,130 shares to the company president, Edw. Dwight, on Sept. 8th, 1865 in New York. Signed by Dwight and the company secretary, Geo. Maynard. Not cancelled. Gorgeous design with fancy logo and two different mining vignettes: hoisting scene (right) and miners filling a bucket (left). All printed in purple. Printer is Hatch & Co., NY. 7 x 11" One 25 cent adhesive revenue stamp attached at the bottom left, pen cancelled. Folds, some toning. Glue residue in 4 corners on reverse. Overall, it looks great. According to Hollister, 1867, the company owned 600 ft. on the Eureka Lode at the head of Prosser Gulch. Multiple shafts are developed with 80 tons of ore out. Hollister describes their milling process in detail and mentions they also want to build furnaces for a "Roast Reduction Process." They have a 4-inch Cornish pump in the main shaft. William H. Doe of Central City is their agent and a large owner of the company. [Hollister, pg. 199-201] () Ken Prag Collection
