Lot of 3. All are Nevada Bank of San Francisco checks. The Sierra Nevada, Mexican, and Union mines were located on the north end of the Comstock. The group was taken over by the Bonanza Kings in the late 1870s. At that time, they installed in it the largest Cornish pump in the world. 1) 1882 check issued to the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. Signed by supt. McKenzie. RN-G. Endorsed by secretary Thorton on reverse. Green print. Adhesive residue on reverse. 2) 1883 check of same design, issued to JC Hampton & Co. Signed by supt. Lyman. Spindle cancel. 3) 1879 check on form for North Con. Virginia Mining Co., stamped "S.N.M.& U. Co.." Issued to the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. Signed by supt. Thos. Rooney. Spindle cancel.
