This mining company was incorporated when the Comstock was still part of the Utah Territory. Incorporation date was July 6, 1860. Very Early! Number 2288 for ten shares to John C MacKenzie. Datelined San Francisco 1866. Signed by John M Burnett and president pro tem Thomas H Holt. 25c Power of Att'y Revenue stamp. Printed by Towne & Bacon. No cancelled. Holes on left side, bottom is ragged. Still a very special stock certificate whose date of incorporation will remain one of the earliest! Original trustees were TJ Andrews, JD WIlson, Joseph Lambert, George O Whitney and William M Stewart. Stewart would become the most influential citizen as lawyer for most of the major mining companies on the Comstock. The Daily Alta California of July 13, 1860 lists the following Comstock mining companies as the earliest to incorporate in San Francisco: Washoe, Chollar, Ophir, Buckeye, Gould & Curry, Scorpion, Yankee Silver and Sierra Nevada.
