1. Crinoline Gold and Silver Mining Company, incorporated on Sep 3, 1863 in Silver Mtn District, Amador County, California. Certificate no. 92 issued to James M. Cornell for 10 shares at $100 each. Signed by president I.B. Purdy and secretary Thomas Owens in San Francisco, Sep 26, 1863. Printed by Water Brothers & Company. Vignette of person standing on hill overlooking factory in valley surrounding by mountains (top center).

2. Crystal Gold and Silver Mining Company, incorporated on July 17, 1863 in Silver Mtn District, Amador County, California. Certificate no. 151 issued to W.S. Cooper(?) for 50 shares at $100 each. Signed by the president, Alfred Fond(?) and Lawrence Pool as secretary on Mar 5, 1864. Nicely detailed center vignette is depicting 2 miners in front of a beautiful mountain scene, one with a pickaxe walking towards a mining shaft and the other one pushing an ore cart out of a mine tunnel.

Very busy mining region first discovered in 1861 (Wheeler, 1878), just after the huge discovery of the Comstock Lode, investors were hopeful this region would turn out as profitable. The majority of production is said to have come from the Exchequer and IXL mines, the majority of silver production had ended by late 1870's.
