High-grade silver ore specimen, approx 301 grams, from the Bryan Mine in Lander County, Nevada, located just north of the open-pit workings of the Newmont Phoenix Mine and southwest of Battle Mountain, Nevada. MinDat posts that the discovery occurred in 1880, and mining commenced in 1885 with several tunnels and a shaft. Ore was processed at a 10-stamp amalgamation mill, but the mill had been dismantled by 1912. Today only mine dumps and mill tailings remain. This specimen is approx 3.5 x 2.5 x 1.5 inches. It appears to be massive silver sulfide with a light copper oxide staining.
