An exceptional rarity. Incorporated in Maine. Certificate number 212, issued to John H. Thompson in 1904. Signed by president John Chapman, and treasurer Henry Soule. Pen cancelled. Black border and print, gold seal. Allegorical vignette of clothed woman in top left corner. Folds, some toning/stains along bottom border. Chartered in 1899 by the Gold King Mining Co. to haul ore from the mines on Cement Creek to the Silverton smelters. Otto Mears and his associates had been unable to secure money to build a branch of the Silverton Northern Railroad to the mining area around the town of Gladstone. The line ran from the mainline of the Silverton Northern on the north side of Silverton, followed Cement Creek northward, and reached Gladstone, 7.5 miles. It was leased by the Silverton Northern in 1910 and absorbed by them in 1915. Dismantled between 1938 and 1942.
