Building the Hoover Dam began in 1931. Due to the huge undertaking, six of the largest construction companies in the United States joined together to build the dam. Small paper scrip were paid to employees to use at the company commissary. Each coupon is 50 x 20 mm. Here are three denominations of the scrip: five cents (torn in cancelling and taped); ten cents (hold cancelled); twenty five cents (ragged left edge). Very scarce in any condition. Boulder City Co. operated a well-stocked store which catered to the workers. Here are two tokens used: five cents (bronze, 20 mm); five cents (white metal, 20 mm.
