So rare FH didn't even know this existed! This ultra-rare pamphlet originally went with the Vischer views. While it does not contain the views, it discusses them. Without this pamphlet, many historians thought the Vischer views were sketched from photographs, but in this pamphlet we learn that he drew the views himself from real life.
"Sketches of the Washoe Region: Photographs, Reduced from Originals, Twenty-five Numbers" by Edward Vischer. Printed in 1862 by Valentine & Co., San Francisco. A series of 25 Sketches reduced in size to photographs. The original sketches were made by Vischer in visits to the Washoe in May and September of 1861. They were then photographed (reduced from the originals) and copies sold with this pamphlet to the public. (Photos are NOT included) The pamphlet was published later in 1862 with the photo descriptions. These represent some of the earliest descriptions and views of the Comstock Lode. Vischer's photos were produced in two sizes: CDV and this booklet size. Sketches described:
