This knife is referred to as a scalping knife but more likely a skinning knife. It is 11in. overall with a 5 in. blade. The scales are of horn, likely Bison or bovine. It is a folder with a thumbnail groove for opening. C. 1880's made during the buffalo hunts of the plains where Indian attacks were prevalent and this knife could have been used for skinning, scalping, or survival. Condition is fair, still very sharp. No maker's mark.
