Skookum Indian doll papoose, on cradle board, The doll is an original wrapped in a Hudson Bay blanket, 4" x 2" x 1.5", very good condition. The cradleboard is woven willow and is in good condition--8.5" x 5" x 4". The cradleboard is probably older than the doll, and they were probably put together at some point later. There is an original papoose board attached to the wicker cradleboard. A Skookum doll was a Native American themed doll, sold as a souvenir item in the early 20th century. Although considered collectible, they are not authentic Indian dolls, as they were designed and created by a white woman, and quickly mass-produced. Originally designed by Mary Dwyer McAboy (1876-1961).
