Lot of 2. 1) Share number 6, issued in 1811 to James Bridge, Esquire, of Augusta. Signed by president Judah McClellan, treasurer Daniel Steward, and clerk John G. Neil. Not endorsed. 4 x 7.25. Bent corners, hole in right edge, some discoloration. James Bridge graduated at Harvard College in 1787 and was a classmate of John Quincy Adams. He was friends with Adams and a fellow-student at law with him in the office of Theophilus Parsons at Newburyport. 2) No. 56, issued to Seth Wyman of Bloomfield in 1814. Same corporate signatures. 6 x 8" Transferred on the reverse. Folds with tape repaired separation, foxing. This company built 2 covered bridges over the Kennebec River in an area called Skouheagan. When the nearby town was incorporated later in 1823, it did so under the name Milburn. In 1836, it was renamed Skowhegan.
