6.61 troy ounces - a heavy specimen for its size! 3.5" x 1" x 2" This specimen shows multiple electrum banding over a 2" width with a center high grade zone 3/8" thick. Native gold disseminated throughout (electrum) throughout the brecciated and banded quartz, polished surface at right angles to the vein. An exceptional example. From the Sleeper main vein, 3860 Bench.

Saunders taught geology for nearly 32 years at Boise State, ole miss and Auburn University. Saunders conducted research projects on numerous high grade epithermal gold veins around the American west such as Sleeper, Fire Creek, and National Nevada. The majority of Dr Saunders collection today resides in the CSM and University of Georgia geology museums. Dr Saunders recently published "Colloids and Nanoparticles: Implications for Hydrothermal Precious Metal Ore Formation" in SEG Discovery July 2022.
