Cert. #1206, issued in1915 to Rudolph Plasil for 100 shares. Inc. in South Dakota. Signed by L.D. West as president and Frank A. Jauda as secretary. The company was formed in 1912 to mine the Red Slide deposit of magnesite in the Cedars. Magnesite was important for steel making and shortages during WWI made the high cost of mining here worthwhile. The Sonoma Magnesite Tramway, 11 miles long was built along East Austin Creek to connect the mine to Cazadero. Production ended in 1920, when magnesite again became available from less expensive sources. Mining vignette and green underprint stating shares were $10 each. Heavy folds.
