Gold Hill District, Storey County, N.T. (printed upper left). Inc. March 19, 1864. This stock has a territorial dateline (Gold Hill, N.T.) but wasn't issued until post-statehood in 1868. No. 94, issued for 10 shares to Wilson Dunlap. Dunlap was known as the "absconding stock-broker of Gold Hill." Signed by the president N.S. Phila and secretary S.W. Chubbuck. Not cancelled. Eagle and allegorical vignette. Printed by Gold Hill News Print. 20 and 5 cent IR adhesive stamps attached on the left with large stain (possibly from the glue?). What is special about this certificate is that it also has a red 25 cent Nevada adhesive revenue stamp which are not common! Please inspect photo for condition. The poor quality around the stamps looked like its was caused by the glue. The South Overman proudly announces on their stock certificate that the mine was located on September 20, 1959 and incorporated on March 19, 1864. Yet the first I can find any information on them is April 22, 1868 - about the time of this stock certificate. On April 22, 1868, the South Overman Miming Company stock was asking to $5.00 a share on the San Francisco Exchange. For the next month that number varied from $5.00 to $7.50. Additional information on the mine and mining district is included. Also Nevada historical backgrounds on the names on the certificate are included. Gold Hill, Storey Co. Nevada
