This mining company was incorporated pre-Nevada statehood, and located on the Comstock Ledge, one of the first mining companies to work the lode in 1860. Mining operations were difficult due to many floods in the coming decades, the Overman Shaft was used to reach the lowest depths of the Comstock lode and which turned into a open pit mine in 1940s.
