Yuma County was established in 1889, Wray became the county seat in 1902, with the village of Vernon located fourteen miles south and west of Wray. Descriptions cover the area's history, soil, churches, schools, pioneers, and the "Dry Farming System" method of agriculture which was successfully presented at the World's Fair at Chicago in 1893.
