Handwritten Claim Deed, 2 pages, James Crawford selling his claim to Ezra Miller for $1000 on Dec 5, 1862. Signed by S.H. Alley. Crawford was mentioned for being the Humbug at The Ancient & Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus Ball in 1855 & 1885 and reported as resident of Spanish Flat in 1859, we can assume he was a long time resident. Spanish Flat was short-lived, rich diggings, but not extensive, by 1860, the once so famous town of Northern Sierra only had 3 families and a few miners left. [Ref: ROTM by J.E. Garvis, pp. 184-86]
