Shipwreck Treasure from Legendary Pirate Era Gold Doubloon! Spanish 2 Escudos Gold Coin 22k Minted in Seville during the reign of King Phillip II, aka Felipe II who reigned from 1556 to 1598. Assayer is Gothic D. The piece is 25 mm in diameter, professionally set in a custom 18k gold bezel accompanied by a 20 inch 14k gold link chain. (Chain is marked 14k) The coin appears to be sea salvage, yet in apparent XF+ condition, with very clear markings and a STRONG STRIKE. The custom bezel and 14k chain contain a little under one ounce of pure gold. A related COA states the bezel itself is 18k, while the chain is 14k. Original COA was misplaced more than 30 years ago. Total weight of coin, bezel and chain is 29.2 grams. Spain. This is the finest example we have seen.
