Rare Bodie stock. Incorporated November 17, 1877. No. 2161, issued for 100 shares to R.R. de Coursy, Trustee on February 14th, 1881. Signed by Redding as president and Pew as secretary. Two vignettes: miner with ore cart on track and miner with pick and bucket. Printed by LeCount Bros, SF. Punch repaired. Pinholes. Very good condition. 4.75" x 9.5" According to Piatt, the mine had a mill with 10 stamps built in 1880. Jos. Wasson also reported on it in his 1877 "Bodie & Esmeralda": "This company have 3,000 feet of ground, including the old Gov. Booth and Sundown claims on west side of district. An incline shaft on line of the Booth, to a depth of near 200 feet, shows a vein well defined three feet in width, the ore assaying on the average $200 per ton, of which there is enough on the dump to make a good. mill test of. The ground is surveyed for patent, and the work of development going ahead undelayed, and with better than average prospects or becoming a paying mine. Steam hoisting works are to be erected soon. Eastern people are considerably interested in the Spaulding, the name of the incorporation being that of a resident of Boston, Mass" (pg. 38-39, 1877). State:California City:Bodie Date:1881 ID#43820
