This was at the time a discovery piece. Since then another two Eaves Virginia silver pieces have been found. This is still incredibly rare. Eaves was found on the Comstock in Nevada Territorial Days. He seems to have left Virginia City shortly after the devastating fire of 1875. More notes on Eaves and the jewelers of Virginia are included. This spoon is engraved with 'GEB' which stands for Grace Ella Barnes. IT is probably a baptism or birth keepsake. This is confirmed as Grace would marry Walter Harris (Gold Hill Water Company) and was found in his grandson's Gordon Harris Estate. Parker Barnes, the father of Grace, lived in Dayton. In the 1868-69 Nevada Directory he is listed as an owner of a Livery Stable. More information on the Barnes family is included. City: Virginia, Storey State: Nevada Date: HWAC# 99430
