The materiala in this lot are from the private collection of an OSS member during WW2, the 1940's. The OSS or Office of Strategic Service was the predecessor to the CIA and this lot contains both hardware, ephemera, and tactical manuals. A FP-45 resistance pistol in .45 caliber. A Braverman .22 cal. pen gun S/N B004492. (FFL transfers required).There is a Rectum Kit that currently contains a micro-tool kit for escape including a small compass. This kit was intended to be used, if captured, to conceal materials for escape while undergoing a pat-down search. A dagger knife is included with a sheath for in-the-sleeve wear. The knife is 7 in. OAL with a 3.5 in. triangled blade with three fullers for repeat-as-needed penetrations. Four metal trail stars to disable an unwanted follower. An electronic explosives timer model MK.3. Three thumb knives; 4 in. OAL case hardened steel, serrated grip for thumb and forefinger, dagger point blades, no marking for country of origin. One OSS Escape Knife; 6 in. OAL with nippers, clip point knife blade, link spreader blade, serrated blade, screwdriver blade. Beautifully blued. Two (2) Firing Device(s) Pull Type A-2 with stout cord at 4 in. OAL. A Zippo lighter with a broken case cover, heavily used with finish loss. Four loose compasses, one without N-S orientation but extremely sensitive highlighted with a red pointer, two OSS collar or lapel pins at 1.5 in., an "A" pin with red ring enameled pin 1 in. diameter identifying a specific unit, (possibly Task Force A). OSS shoulder sleeve patch. There is a Visitors Pass to the Dachau Concentration Camp undated and unsigned at 3 in. X 4 in. A Fighting knife with scabbard at 12.5 in. the knife is 11.25 in. in like new condition; to be worn high or low on the belt. An M57 Firing Device Electrical CAS 1-10-2-73 in like new condition. This device generates 3 V for M4 detonation. Instructions for use are restricted. A 5.5 in. pocket knife, "Buck" style folder with black plastic scales, absolutely no markings, shows moderate usage. There is a "Koh-i-noor technigraph 5611" mechanical pencil that looks innocent enough until the plunger is depressed to release a 6 in. ice pick dagger. An empty clear plastic vile marked "Office of Strategic Services" on the cardboard box container with a "Who Me?" a stink bomb container now empty (except for the noxious smell left behind, aka stench warfare). A detonation device by a spring loaded plunger at 5.5 in. unmarked for origin of country, it would fire a type of primer driven propellant. A box of five time delay pencils. There are two Smachets; one at 18 in. the other at 20 in. They are large unmarked sheath knives/machetes. OSS Weapons manual copy no. 524-19 dated June 1944 Confidential paperback, two-hole dinding.
