"St. Johns River, Florida" printed under title. Pass no. 440, issued for 1896 to JD Hawks, president of the Detroit & Mackinaw Railway Co. Signed by general manager W. Gibson. Black and red print on blue cardstock with great underprint vignette of a steamer in red. This company was owned by Captain Charles Edward Gardner and also known as the Independent Day Line. The St. Johns River is the longest river in Florida and it is the most significant one for commercial and recreational use. At 310 miles long, it flows north and winds through or borders twelve counties.
