Striking looking stock certificate. Nice center mining in a mountainous area vignette. Fancy gold background artwork. Seal stamp is near perfect. Mine located in the Antelope District, Eureka County, Nevada. No. 98, issued for 20 shares to William Whalen, the company president on August 17th, 1887. Also signed by the company secretary Erastus A Fay. Inc. in Illinois. Not cancelled. Silver seal and border, facsimile revenue imprint. Vignette of mine. Printed by John Norris, Chicago. No folds, edge issues, corner issues, pin holes, discoloration, etc. 8" x 10.5" . The district is located on the western slope of the Roberts Mountains north of Eureka, near Roberts Creek Station on the old overland road. The original name of the district, Leopold, was changed to Antelope by 1881. The Territorial Enterprise (1877) mentions a Black Rock district “in the vicinity of Roberts Creek” that may have been this same area.
