Mounted photograph on D. A. Markey board, identified on obverse and reverse, Fort Grant. The photo shows a stage coach with driver and assistant and a 4 mule team on a road outside Fort Grant. The stage is marked: "U.S. Fort Grant". Daniel A. Markey was an Arizona photographer from the 1880s to about 1900. in 1885 hewith Myton at Fort Apache. He worked in San Carlos in the late 1880s, and was off to Bisbeein the 1890s. Mautz (Biographies of Western Photographers -go buy this book!) suggests this photo is circa 1900, though the board imprint style is clearly older. 6.5 x 8.5" very good.
