Envelope is not cancelled, but has "Way Pocket" written on top. Letter is from Charles A Race and datelined July 26, 1901. Rice thanks Mr. Buford of Virginia City for the goods. He is concerned about the wild hay, however, water is not in great abundance and the court appointed a water commissioner. He was by yesterday and told Race to, "...put in a measuring box at head of ditch. The box to be set level and the bottom six inches above the water." He continues with the instructions and goes on to mention that the water commissioner "...might be here next week and close the ditch." Race owned the Norwegian Gulch Ranch (Red Springs Ranch).
