Overall frame size 43.5" x 38" Art size 35" x 29.5" Signed lower right, hashmarks above and below. Dan Muller. Painted 1935, hung in the Town House, 1935.

Here Muller paints a Western scene found in every wild west story - a stage coach under attack by a band of Indians. It hung in the bar room at the Town House, and there wasn't a better place to hang this painting. It was clearly one of the most popular of the Town House series, as can be read below.

In Muller's own words: "It shows a real old fashioned stage with six hosses hell-bent a-trying t'get away f'm the' rear. The driver has all he c'n do t'hold the' ribbons while the' guard next t'him on the' box is peckin' away at them varmints with his smoke-wagon. I hears tell that this is a picture well worth seein' ... the fleecy clouds in that blue sky ... the' sandy background with the' range o' mountains in the' distance, an' them spooky hosses in all that dust 'an heat ... folks, it sure 'nuf makes me think o' my home range."
