Standard Oil Co. and Trust controlled most oil production and transportation in US from 1870 - 1911. John D. Rockefeller and his associates were in charge of company. By 1880 company became the new Standard Oil Co. with refineries in Cleveland incorp. in Ohio in 1870. By 1880 competitors leaving market, mergers and railroad rebates use, it controlled the refining of 90 - 95% of all oil produced in US.
