Standard Oil Co. Inc. was an oil producer, transporter, refiner, and marketing co. in US. John Davison Rockefeller (1839 - 1937) and Henry Morrison Flagler (1830-1913) founded company in 1870 as an Ohio corp. Largest oil refinery in the world at that time.Producing 10,000 barrels a day by 1872, Rockefeller was in charge of company as its chairman until his 1897 retirement. Was known as one of the richest men in the world. Standard Oil's control of oil business ended in 1911 when U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Standard Oil was an illegal monopoly.
