State of California Executive Department Official Declaration of the appointment of E.C. Hutchinson of San Francisco as a member of the board of trustees for the State Mining Bureau when C.T. Deane's term expired. Dated March 14th, 1912. Signed by California Governor Hiriam W. Johnson and Secretary of State, Frank C. Jordan. 11 x 17" Allegorical vignette and gold California seal. Folds, otherwise very fine. Hutchinson had previously served as the president and general manager of the Kennedy Mining Company. When he joined the bureau, he immediately launched an investigation and determined two employees working under state mineralogist W.H. Storms were of no value. Hiriam W. Johnson served as the 23rd Governor of California from 1911 to 1917 and as a United States Senator from 1917 to 1945.
