Boys Denim overalls with full label, "Boys/ Best of All" brand. There are Arm & Hammer insignias at the upper right and left corners of the label. The rear buckle and attachment style is identical to that of Steinhart, our #186637. The buckle area , as stated with another lot, is very similar to another pant seen in Harris, pp69 and 71, identified as "possibly Neustadter", though at the time Mr. Harris did not have access to the several pair of Steinhart pants offered herewith, since they had not yet been discovered. It is in pretty tattered condition. The Arm & Hammer insignias on the label bring more questions. The brand began using this trademark in the 1860s. The distinct possibility here is that the Steinhart stitch and manufacture pattern may have been contracted to another manufacturer (which could also have been Neustadter, by the way), inclusive of A&H, though that company apparently only made soap.
