Full label "California" brand overalls (probably by Steinhart Bros. of San Francisco.) Buttons embossed with "San Francisco" and a re-enforced button fly, There are re-enforced pocket corners. Buckle construction similar, if not exactly the same as the "Colorado" model. Rear pocket intact, missing seat. Suspenders are present. Right leg, below knee, missing. Six buttons on waistband. This is another unlisted variety of Steinhart not listed in Harris, as not yet discovered. More work will be necessary to ascertain the difference between the two "state" designs, leaving open the possibility that more different state designs exist. Interestingly, it is very difficult to research Steinhart advertising, as it appears they did not do much of it showing off their different pants patterns, etc. More work is necessary to see if a Steinhart catalog of their goods exists somewhere. None exists in Larson's Guide to Business History. The buttons here are also rare, not found in many online button collection searches. c 1878-1885. [San Francisco] [California] [] [] []
