Fantastic scene photographed by Thomas Houseworth & Co. "736. Hoisting Works of the Bullion Mine--Gold Hill." View shows man with ore bucket being hoisted up beyond him, while another man stands on a lift with an ore car! Contrast washed out in bottom third of photos, but great detail. One side has a portion missing on the left. The Bullion Mine was located on the Divide (bordering Gold Hill and Virginia City). It was sandwiched between the Consolidated Imperial and the Collar-Potosi, but was not a producer. John Mackay was supt. in the 1860s, but even under his good management, the mine was not profitable.
