1901 Stereo card from Underwood on light beige panel. The Congress mine was an early discovery found as the result of the 1860's gold near the Weaver District. The owners sold out to Tombstone capitalists in 1894, headed by E. B. GAge. By 1900 the mine was in full production and was one of Arizona's largest gold producing mines. President McKinley visited the mine in May, 1901, when this photo was taken. State: Arizona City: Congress Date: FHWAC#: 40939
