RARE U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Mines sterling silver Western-style engraved belt buckle. Weighs 77.5 grams and measures 3.5" x 2.5". Maker's mark stamped on rear: "Smith Enterprises/Reno/Nevada/Sterling." Centerpiece inset is a 1.5" diameter commemorative gold and silver coin, stamped on front, "U.S. Department of the Interior/Bureau of Mines/Safety Efficiency/Mineral Industries," with "E. Pluribus Unum," eagle and shield. Stamped on rear: "U.S. Department of the Interior/March 3, 1940? or 46?" with a buffalo and mountainside background.
