Stevens-Duryea, American manufacturer of automobiles in Chicopee Falls, MA, between 1901 and 1915 and from 1919 to 1927. Co. founded due to disagreement between brothers J. Frank and Charles Duryea in 1898. In 1900 Frank formed Hampden Automobile and Launch Company and developed new automobile. J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co., entered into a partnership with Frank. Frank Duryea sold out in 1915 and production stopped due to financial problems. Plant sold to New England Westinghouse Co. This did not improve the company's financial prospects, it was purchased by Ray Owen (of Owen Magnetic) in 1923 to produce gas and electric cars under the Rauch and Lang brand.
