Lot of 9 from the Hornsilver (Gold Point), Lida, & Tulare Canyon mining districts. 1) Lida District. Two different stock certificates. a) The Lida Gold Mining and Reduction Company. No. 28, issued for 1,000 shares in 1905. Not cancelled. Folds, spindle hole. b) The Lida Goldfield Mining Company. No. 1240, issued for 5,000 shares in 1908. Not cancelled. Gilt border and three mining vignettes. Deep folds. 2) Tule Canyon. The Tule Canyon District (also known as the Lida) was discovered in 1876 and adjoined the Gold Point district. a) Tule Canyon Goldfield Company. No. 311, issued for 5,000 shares to the company president in 1908. Not cancelled. Allegorical vignette. Folds. 3) Hornsilver. 5 pieces. The Hornsilver was also known as the Gold Point district, was discovered in 1886, and located along Slate Ridge. a) Two issued stock certificates for the Horn Silver Mining Company. Issued in 1913 and 1914. Not cancelled. Orange border and seal with a mining vignette. Folds. b) 1918 letter from the Silvermines Corporation, mines at Hornsilver, Nevada. Letter to Thomas Manning, president of Goldfield Mine Operators' Association. Re: documentation of the treatment for a miner who was injured. c) John S. Cook & Co., Goldfield, NV check from the Orleans Hornsilver Mining Co., 1921. The Orlean Mine was discovered in 1908. d) Softcover book: "Hornsilver / Gold Point Nevada, Silver turns to Gold" by Alan H. Patera. 86pp. Copyright 2003. 4) Finally, a stock certificate for the Gold Point Hydraulic Mining Company. We were unsure of its location, but it may actually be a Canadian mining operation and not related to Gold Point in Nevada. Issued in 1899.
