This studio photo card is undated by the Hughes Studio in Perry, Oklahoma O. T. which dates between 1890-1906. The photo shares a very proud Native American couple presumably husband and wife dressed for the occasion. The woman, wears many buttons, strings of beads and a long skirt while the man wears traditional clothing and holds what appears to be a riding quirt. The nationality is unknown but thought to be either Cherokee, Osage, or Creek. A better understanding of the bead designs may lead to a better identification for the viewer. 5.5 in. X 8 in. with loss in the lower right corner of the mount, photo is still intact. A visual treasure of beautiful people, Native Americans on the cusp of the 20th Century. Please see photo for details.
