Welcome to our Summer Sale!
The summer sale features everything good about summer collectors – mining artifacts – and all elements of western history.
Here’s some highlights!
More than a dozen ore cars!!
Great manuscript archives, including that of a Mormon family and their trials and tribulations over several decades, from Nauvoo to Salt Lake, and back to the East coast; a newly surfaced Adolph Sutro-Comstock Lode archive and documents; an amazing archive from Nevada engineer John Heizer; a scrap book from promoter Tex Rickard; early Arizona military letters; a pair of 1860’s maps showing the location of the original adobes in Los Angeles! Wow! And there’s lots more.
The western Art section is huge, with art in every category. One of my favorites is the ornately engraved presentation silver chalice from Grass Valley, a “must-have” for any mining or California collector
Antique bottles and marbles. Hundreds of lots of California and Nevada items accompanied by a marble collection. Some of my favorites (other than bottles, which are always fun and historical) are the ceramic series of cat house decanters. This rare set has been split up by region, making it even more fun. While we’ve had a few of these over the years, we’ve never seen this many different- ever!
Stocks and bonds. This is another “wow” offering from two or more collections. Some highlights: Chinese bond collection; Arizona material- Sopori (1850’s), Gold MC, Picacho (1860’s), and from California the Bear River piece that preceded the Tuolumne stock that features a killer mining vignette; and of course a huge offering of more from the famous Prag Collection
Numismatics has about a little of everything related to coins and currency. Lots of scrip, tokens, medals (make sure you make it all the way thru the catalog!), and two spectacular gold fakes of which one was unknown, and the other very well published. There’s also a great strong box to put it all in! Medal collectors, don’t miss the late July sale as well.
Speaking of gold, don’t miss the high grade ore specimens from two major collections, the Heizer collection and Pollock. Most of Heizer’s material is Nevada-Cal, while Pollock is Mostly Utah, Alaska.
With 4000 lots, you’ll have plenty of great material to look over.
Don’t forget the search box on the “Virtual Catalog” on our web site. It can help you find the things you want in a hurry. But there’s nothing like surfing through the catalog – you get to find all sorts of neat things you might never have thought about.
