3 oz silver bar produced in 1969 to recognize Sunshine Mining Company of Kellogg, Idaho. Originally issued in a black collector case as part of a five bar set. Obverse: [3OZ.] [SILVER] [IMAGE OF SUNSHINE MINING COMPANY LOGO] [KELLOG, IDAHO] [.999 FINE] [1969} Reverse: [IMAGE OF MULE PULLING A PROSPECTOR CART] [DIST. BY FOSTER, INC., WALLA WALLA, WASH.] The general consensus amongst the collector community is that W. H. Foster, Inc. was in operation from roughly 1968, until their name change to Lewis & Clark Mint, Inc. in 1972. There is further evidence that suggests Hercules Picerne and Bob Naimy operated the W. H. Foster, Inc. coin shop and mail order business as early as 1964. The earliest dated production pieces are the 1966 tokens which were given to customers depending on the size of their orders and it is speculated that these tokens were possibly produced by Northwest Historical Medals, Inc. given their Walla Walla, Washington location in the Paine Building was shared with W. H. Foster at the time.(AllEngelhard.com).
